Pagbuo sa climate agenda ng Marcos-administration sinimulan ni Rep. Joey Salceda
Pinangunahan ni Albay Rep. Joey Salceda (2nd District) ang paglulunsad ng Disaster and Climate Emergency Polict Forum sa Makati City.
Layon nito na mapag-isa ang ‘policy inputs’ ng ibat-ibang sektor ng lipunan para sa pagbuo ng Climate Agenda ng administrasyong-Marcos Jr.
Sa US, isa sa mga natalakay ni Pangulong Marcos Jr., ang mga hamon na dulot ng climate change.
“The Philippines for example, is a net carbon sink. We absorbed more carbon dioxide than we emit and yet, we are the fourth most vulnerable country to the effects of Climate Change. This injustice must be corrected and those who need to do more must act now,” ani Pangulong Marcos.
Dagdag pa niya; “We accept our share of responsibility and will continue to do our part to avert this collective disaster.”
Ayon naman kay Salceda, maaring mahirapan na makalusot sa Kongreso ang naiisip na pagpapataw ng carbon tax dahil magreresulta ito sa pagtaas pa ng presyo ng kuryente.
“That would be difficult to pass. Congress will not pass that,” saad ng mambabatas.
Pagdidiin ni Salceda kailangan sa bansa ang ‘renewable energy’ para sa mas murang kuryente kayat kailangan aniya pagtuunan ng sapat na pansin ang ‘renewable energy expansion program.’
Kabilang naman sa mga dumalo sa forum ay mga opisyal ng Department of Energy, Department of Finance, Department of the Interior and Local Government, National Development and Economic Authority at government financial institutions at government-owned and controlled corporations, maging sa pribadong sektor at akademiya.
Kabilang naman sa mga sumuporta ang Pitmaster Foundation, sa pamumuno ni Executive Director Atty. Caroline Cruz.
