Senate probe sa DepEd laptops issue, nagkaroon ng ‘whistleblower’

Binigyan ng immunity ni Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Senator Francis Tolentino ang isang opisyal ng Department of Education (DepEd) kaugnay sa pagdinig sa biniling bilyun-bilyong pisong halaga ng laptops ng kagawaran.

Paliwanag ni Tolentino, dahil may immunity si DepEd Procurement Dir. Atty. Marcelo Bragado, walang testimoniya o ebidensiya na magmumula sa kanyang testimoniya ang maaring magamit laban sa kanya.

Humarap sa komite si Bragado bilang ‘resource person’ para magbigay linaw sa pagkakabili ng DepEd ng mga sinasabing ‘overpriced and outdated laptops.’

Binili ng DepEd ang P2.4 bilyong halaga ng laptops sa pamamagitan ng Department of Budget and Management – Procurement Service.

Ipinamahagi ang laptops sa public school teachers sa pagkasa ng blended learning system.

Kasabay nito, ipinag-utos ni Tolentino na alamin ang tunay na dahilan at kung kalian namatay ang isang Atty. Jose Floro Crisologo, na siyang nag-notaryo ng memorandum of agreement (MOA) sa pagitan ng DepEd at DBM-PS para sa pagbili ng laptops.

Napakahalaga, diin ni Tolentino, na maberipika kung namatay si Crisologo bago o pagkatapos ng petsa ng notary sa kasunduan.

Humingi na ang komite ng kopya ng death certificate ni Crisologo sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
