Rep. Bernadette Herrera nangako na ilalaban ang P500M budget para sa cancer patients

Tiniyak ni House Deputy Minority Leader at Bagong Henerasyon Partylist Representative Bernadette Herrera na ipaglalaban niya ang mga cancer patients sa bansa.

Gagawin niya ito sa pamamagitan nang pakikipaglaban para maibalik ang tinapyas na P500 million cancer assistance fund sa pondo ng Department of Health (DOH) para sa susunod na taon.

“We will do everything in our power to make sure that the cancer assistance fund will be included in the final version of the 2023 budget,” pagtitiyak ni Herrera.

Ginawa ito ni Herrera kasunod nang pag-apila ni DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire sa komite na ibalik ang inalis na pondo.

“I hope that this committee was able to hear that. Napakahalaga po nito for our cancer patients, so I hope maibalik po natin sa DOH ‘yung P500 million assistance na ‘yun for our cancer patients,” apila nito sa mga kapwa mambabatas

Dagdag pa ni Herrera sa kanyang pag-apila; “Napakahirap po, ang dami pong lumalapit sa atin. So I hope we could consider that in this committee.”

Nakapaloob ang pondo sa National Integrated Cancer Control Program na nasimulan ng nakalipas na administrasyon.

Nabanggit din ni Herrera na layon ng programa na mapagaling ang mga cancer patients, mabawasan ang mga kaso ng cancer na maari naman maiwasan, ang hindi na magkaroon ng ‘recurrence, metastasis at secondary cancer’ sa mga cancer survivors.
