Nag-retiro na si dating Commission on Elections spokesman James Jimenez.
Ayon kay Comelec Chairman Erwin Garcia, naghain ng optional retirement si Jimenez noong Agosto 2 bilang Director IV ng Education and Information Department.
Agosto 31 aniya nang aprubahan ng Comelec En Banc ang hiling ni Jimenez.
Ayon kay Garcia, magiging epektibo ang optional retirement ni Jimenez sa Setyembre 15, 2022 base na rin sa ilalim ng Civil Service Rules.
“The whole Comelec family expresses its gratitude and appreciation to Director Jimenez for his long exemplary service to the nation through the Commission. We wish him all the best as he embarks on this new chapter in his life,” pahayag ni Garcia.
Sa ngayon, wala pang napipiling kapalit sa puwesto ni Jimenez.
Matatandaang nabalot sa kontrobersiya si Jimenez matapos hindi mabayaran ang P14 milyon sa Sofitel Hotel para sa ginawang presidential at vice presidential debate para sa May 2022 national elections.
