“The LTO will continue to reach out to different stakeholders in crafting the guidelines for the access of LGUs to its information technology (IT) facility, pursuant to the provisions of Republic Act 10930 and its implementing rules and regulations (IRR). The guidelines will facilitate the listing of demerit points for the issuance of 10-year validity of the driver’s license,” pahayag ni Guadiz.

“We welcome the decision of the country’s highest court in issuing a temporary halt to the policy. With this, the LTO, together with the LGUs, transport groups, and other concerned stakeholders will have more time to sit down and discuss issues related to the policy. Together, we hope to come up with a framework and set of guidelines that will make the tagging in the LTO IT facility of traffic violations more responsive, efficient, and appropriate to the motoring public,” dagdag ni Guadiz.

Tanggap aniya ng LTO ang desisyon ng SC.

“One of the LTO’s main concerns from the very start regarding the NCAP was on the issue of data privacy and compliance to the country’s data privacy laws. We take the issue of data privacy seriously since it concerns motorists’ information, that is why coming up with appropriate guidelines on this matter with regard to the NCAP is very important,” pahayag ni Guadiz.
