Omicron subvariant BA.5, dahilan ng COVID-19 wave
Itinuro ng Philippine Genome Center ang Omicron subvariant BA.5 na maaring pangunahing dahilan ng pagdami ng COVID-19 cases sa bansa.
Ayon kay PGC executive director, Dr. Cynthia Salonga, base ito sa pinagsama-samang datos mula sa Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao.
“If you look at this very closely in the past month, ang BA.5 talaga is the most predominant variant that we are sequencing in the Philippines. Its above 85% ng ating sequence samples,” sabi ni Salonga.
Sa nakalipas na mga araw, ang average na naitatalang bagong kaso ay 4,000 kasabay nang pagkumpirma ng mga awtoridad na marami ay Omicron subvariants.
Base sa inilabas na update ng Department of Health (DOH), karagdagag 104 kaso ng Omicron subvariants ang naitala ang 95 sa bilang ay BA.5 cases.
Karamihan sa mga ito ay sa Davao Region at Soccsksargen.
