Nagpaabot ng pakikiramay si Pope Francis sa sambayanang Filipino dahil sa pagpanaw ni dating Pangulong Fidel Valdez Ramos.
Ayon sa ulat ng CBCP News, nagpadala ng telegram ang Santo na naka-address kay Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. para ipaabot ang kanyang “heartfelt condolences and the assurance of my prayers.”
“Mindful of the late President’s years of service to the nation and his efforts in fostering the values of democracy, peace and rule of law, I commend his soul to the mercy of Almighty God,” pahayag ng Santo Papa.
“Upon President Ramos’ family and all who mourn his passing, I invoke the divine blessings of consolation and peace,” dagdag ng Santo Papa.
Pumanaw si Ramos sa edad na 94 noong July 31.
Inihatid sa huling hantungan si Ramos kaninang tanghali sa Libingan ng mga Bayani sa Taguig kung saan binigyan siya ng state funeral at 21 gun salute.
