Kinalampag ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang local government units (LGUs) na patuloy na hikayatin ang publiko na magpa-rehistro sa Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) para sa PhilID o National ID.
Ito ay bilang pagtalima sa utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. na bilisan ang delivery ng 50 milyong PhilID cards sa katapusan ng taong 2022.
Ayon kay Interior Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., dapat manguna ang LGU sa pagpapaliwanag sa kahalagahan ng national ID na magsisilbing official proof of identity para sa mga public at private transactions.
“We again call on LGUs, especially the barangays, to extend their full support to the President and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in the National ID campaign. Enjoin your constituents to get a National ID for easier validation and authentication of identity in their transactions with government offices, banks, and other private entities,” pahayag ni Abalos.
Maaari aniyang tumulong ang mga Punong Barangays sa National ID campaign sa pamamagitanng pamimigay ng printed at electronic materials pati na ang pag-share o post sa mga social media pages.
“Kailangang masigasig ang mga LGUs at mga barangays sa kampanyang ito dahil gusto nating ang lahat ay magkaroon ng maayos na pagkakakilanlan para na rin mabilis silang maasikaso at makatanggap ng mga serbisyo ng gobyerno at ng mga pribadong opisina,” pahayag ni Abalos.
