Inatasan ni Interior Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. ang Philippine National Police (PNP) na higpitan ang seguridad sa Lamitan City, Basilan.
Ito ay matapos ang pamamaslang kay retired policeman Rolando Yumol na ama ni Dr. Chao-Tiao Yumol, ang namaril kay dating Lamitan Mayor Rosita Furigay sa Ateneo de Manila at dalawang iba pa.
“I have ordered the PNP to tighten existing checkpoints in Lamitan City, including its borders to prevent the culprits in the Yumol slaying from escaping,” pahayag ni Abalos.
Tiniyak pa ni Abalos na nasa on top of the situation ang PNP matapos ang insidente ng pamamaril.
“Ronaldo Yumol’s case is still being investigated and we will wait for the results of the investigation. So I ask the public to refrain from making assumptions about the case,” pahayag ni Abalos.
Pinagbabaril si Yumol ng dalawang lalaki sa labas ng kanyang bahay sa Lamitan, Basilan.
“I call on the public to cooperate with police investigators. If anyone has any information that may help the PNP solve the case, I ask you to please come forward,” pahayag ni Abalos.
