CHR, hinimok ang publiko na i-report ang Facebook pages na sangkot sa child abuse
Mariing kinondena ng Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ang pagkakaroon ng online groups na sangkot sa sexual abuse and exploitation sa mga kabataan.
Naglabas ng pahayag ang komisyon matapos magbabala si Senadora Risa Hontiveros ukol sa ilang Facebook groups at hinimok ang social media platforms na maging proactive sa pag-aalis ng mga post at account na nag-a-advertise, nagbebenta, at nangangalakal ng mga larawan at video ng mga menor de edad.
“We reiterate that this is a heinous crime that tramples over the rights of minors, and causes lifelong consequences to victims and their families,” ayon kay CHR Executive Director, Atty. Jacqueline Ann de Guia.
Inihayag muli ng CHR ang suporta nito sa pagpapasa ng Senate Bill No. 2209 o ang Anti-Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) Law.
Paliwanag nito, “This key legislation will strengthen the role of law enforcement in pursuing offenders as well as improve government coordination and response through the establishment of the National Coordinating Center against OSAEC under the Inter-Agency Council against Trafficking (IACAT).”
Maliban dito, magkakaroon aniya ng aktibong responsibilidad ang media platforms at internet service providers na alisin ang mga illegal contents na may kinalaman sa pang-aabuso at trafficking ng mga menor de edad.
“With the law in place, CHR will be equipped with a stronger legal aegis to protect young people against child abusers and predators,” ani de Guia.
Dagdag nito, “Efforts to make defense and complaints mechanisms accessible to everyone must also be prioritized in order to provide ample support for victims of cyber trafficking, most especially children and their families.”
Kasunod nito, hinimok ng CHR ang publiko na maging mapagmatyag sa social media at i-report sa mga page, group, at iba pang virtual channels na sangkot sa OSAEC-related crimes.
“CHR enjoins all to share the responsibility of embodying the role of digital guardians to make online spaces inclusive and safe for all—most especially for the vulnerable, most especially for children,” saad pa ni de Guia.
