Lalo pang pinaigting ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Quezon City ang kampanya kontra dengue.
Ayon kay Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, inilunsad sa buong lungsod ang “search and destroy” operations para mapuksa ang mga lugar na pinamumugaran ng mga lamok na nagtataglay ng dengue.
Inatasan ni Belmonte ang Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) na makipag-ugnayan sa barangay officials at mga residente sa mga barangay na may matataas na kaso ng dengue na bigyang prayoridad ang paglilinis sa mga estero at iba pang lugar.
“Our goal is to ensure that our citywide anti-mosquito protective measures are implemented and enforced, while also educating all residents to encourage personal protection,” pahayag ni Belmonte.
Sa ilalim ng search and destroy strategy, puntirya nitong malinis ang mga lugar na may mga stagnant na tubig gaya ng bote, lata, flower pots at iba pa.
Hinikayat naman ni QCHD Chief Dr. Esperanza Arias ang mga residente na sundin ang “4S strategy” ng gobyerno kabilang ang: Secure Self-Protection Measures gaya ng pagsusuot ng mga pantalo, at damit na may mahabang manggas, paggamit ng mosquito repellent; Support fogging o spraying sa mga hotspot areas; at Seek early consultation.
Mas makabubuti aniya kung agad na magtungo sa health center o ospital kapag nakaranas ng lagnat ng dalawa hanggang pitong araw, sakit ng ulo, panghihina ng katawan, pananakit ng laman, pananakit ng mata, walang gana sa pagkain, pagsusuka, pagtatae, skin rashes at iba pa.
“We made rapid dengue diagnostic kits available in all our health centers to ensure that all cases are screened and managed appropriately. Early detection and access to appropriate care reduces the likelihood of severe dengue or death,” pahayag ni Arias.
Base sa talaan ng Quezon City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (QCESU), nasa 1,098 na kaso ng dengue ang naitala sa lungsod mula Enero 1 hanggang Hulyo 21, 2022.
Mas mataas ito ng 573 na kaso o 109.14 porsyentong mas mataas kumpara sa parehong panahon noong nakaraang taon.
