Mananatili ang ipinatutupad na Alert Level 4 sa Myanmar, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)
Sa ilalim ng naturang alert level, nagsasagawa ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas ng mandatory evacuation procedures.
Itinaas ang Alert Level 4 sa Myanmar noong Mayo 6, 2021 dahil sa nagpapatuloy na karahasan at lumalalang armed conflict simula noong Pebrero 2021.
“The DFA acknowledges the concerns of OFWs wishing to return to Myanmar despite the uncertainty and danger posed by the ongoing crisis,” paliwanag ng kagawaran.
Gayunman, sinabi ng DFA na nangungunang prayoridad ng pamahalaan ang kaligtasan at seguridad ng bawat Filipino.
“To protect the lives of our fellow Filipinos abroad, Alert Level 4 will therefore remain in place in Myanmar until further notice,” dagdag nito.
Sinabi ng DFA na magpapatuloy ang pag-assess sa sitwasyon at pagpapaabot ng tulong sa mga natitirang Filipino sa nasabing bansa.
Simula noong Pebrero ng taong 2021, umabot na sa 701 ang kabuuang bilang ng mga Filipino na napauwi mula sa Myanmar.
Katumbas ito ng 60 porsyento ng kabuuang bilang ng overseas Filipinos sa naturang bansa.
“Filipinos who are still in Myanmar are advised to restrict non-essential movements, avoid public places, and prepare for evacuation,” paalala pa nito.
