Target ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. na buwisan ang digital services sa bansa.
Sa unang State of the Nation Address (SONA), agad na inihirit ng Pangulo ang pagdadagdag ng buwis para makalikom ng sapat na pondo ang pamahalaan at matustusan ang iba’t ibang programa.
“Our tax system will be adjusted in order to catch up with the rapid developments of the digital economy, including the imposition of value-added tax on digital service providers,” saad nito.
Kapag naaprubahan ng Kongreso ang panukala ng Pangulo, aabot sa P11.7 bilyong pondo ang malilikom ng pamahalaan sa taong 2023.
Ito ang unang revenue generating proposal ng Pangulo para maibaba ang outstanding debt na 60 porsyento ng gross domestic product (GDP) sa pagsapit ng taong 2025.
Pahayag nito, “Measurable medium-term macroeconomic and fiscal objectives include the following headline numbers. These are based on forecasts that are consistent with the guiding principles of coherence of strategies, policy discipline and fiscal sustainability.
– 6.5 to 7.5% real GDP growth in 2022; 6.5 to 8% real GDP growth annually between 2023 to 2028
– 9% or single-digit poverty rate by 2028
– 3% national government deficit to GDP ratio by 2028
– Less than 60% national government debt-to-GDP ratio by 2025
– At least 4,256 USD income (GNI) per capita and the attainment of upper middle-income status by 2024”
Sisimplehan din ng Pangulo ang proseso sa pagbubuwis para mapadali at hindi na maging pahirap pa sa taong bayan.
Sinabi pa ng pangulo na para mabilis na mapalakas ang ekonomiya, palalakasin nito ang turismo at imprastraktura.
Itutuloy na rin aniya ang implementasyon ng face-to-face classes at palalakasin ang healthcare system sa bansa.
Palalakasin din ng pangulo ang agrikultura.
Magbibigay aniya ng pautang ang pamahalaan, habang mas ilalapit sa sektor ng agrikultura ang hindi gaanong mahal na farm inputs na bibilhin na ng bulto ng gobyerno at farm-to-market roads.
Kabilang dito ang abono, pestisidyo, mga punla, feeds, fuel subsidy at ayuda para sa mga karapat-dapat na benepisyaryo.
