2021 P3.8-M gastos ng DOT sa hotel, pagkain pinuna ng COA
Humigit sa P3.8 milyon ang ginasta ng Department of Tourism (DOT) sa hotels at restaurants noong nakaraang taon at pinuna ito ng Commission on Audit (COA).
Ito, ayon sa COA, ay higit sa itinakda ng gobyerno sa dapat na gastusin.
Isa mga napuna ay ang ang kontrata na nagkakahalaga ng P236,500 sa Grand Hyatt Manila sa Taguig City na dapat ay para sa 75 katao, ngunit napakinabangan lamang ng 13 katao.
“Conducting meetings/forums in luxury hotels results in spending unnecessary higher cost of misrepresentation expense which is considered contrary to existing government thrust of judicious and prudent use of government funds,” ayon sa ulat ng COA.
Gumasta din ang kagawaran ng P544,450 para sa pagdalo ng kanilang mga empleado sa conferences sa Joy-Nostalg Hotel & Suites Manila, Movenpick Resort and Spa Boracay, and Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort.
Naobserbahan din ng COA ang P1.534 million financial assistance sa Pacific Asia Travel Assn., na kulang-kulang ang mga dokumento.
Gumasta din ng P1,100 ang DOT para sa tanghalian ng kada tao sa Ridge and Reef Travel Corridor Launching sa Fort Ilocandia sa Ilocos Norte at umabot sa P697,854 ang nagamit na pondo ng bayan.
