Sen. Grace Poe: Mag-ingat sa pagdedeklara ng ‘state of calamity’ sa agri sector
Nagbabala si Senator Grace Poe sa pinaplanong pagdedeklara ng state of emergency o calamity sa sektor ng agrikultura.
Nababahala si Poe na maaring samantalahin lamang ito sa pag-aangkat ng mga produkto at pagpapaluwag sa imported goods na lalong magpapabagsak sa sektor.
“The call to declare a state of emergency on the current food crisis is only viable if it comes with absolute transparency on the steps to be taken, as well as a much-needed overhaul on and the full digitalization of BOC (Bureau of Customs) system and processes — measures which are long overdue,” diin nito.
Paliwanag pa nito, ang krisis sa food security ay bunga nang pagtutulak para sa mas malawakang importasyon na ikinadehado ng mga magsasaka sa bansa.
Paalala din niya, marami ng ginawang deklarasyon ng state of emergency at may ilan na tumagal kahit wala ng pangangailangan.
Sabi ni Poe, kailangan ang maingat na pagpaplano at ang kailangan ay ang matagal na niyang isinusulong sa Kongreso na Right to Adequate Food.
