P131-M halaga ng smuggled na sigarilyo, nasabat ng BOC
May nasamsam ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Subic at Intelligence Group ang isa pang kargamento na naglalaman ng mga smuggled na sigarilyo.
Bilang resulta ng matinding profiling ng mga kargamento, ipinag-utos ni Coll. Maritess Martin ang paglalabas ng Pre-Lodgment Control Orders laban sa mga kargamento.
Naka-consign ang mga kargamento sa Russhi Knish Consumer and Proline Logistics.
Matapos ang physical examination, nakuha ang 3,160 master cases ng mga smuggled na sigarilyo na nagkakahalaga ng P131.14 milyon.
Ayon sa BOC, hindi kabilang sa listahan ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) na mga rehistradong importer ng cigarette brands ang mga tatak ng nakuhang sigarilyo.
Kasunod nito, inilabas ang Warrant of Seizure and Detention sa mga kargamento dahil sa paglabag sa National Tobacco Administration (NTA) Memorandum Circular No. 03 series of 2004, NTA Board Resolution No. 079-2005, at Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 79-2022, patungkol sa Section 1113 (f) ng Republic Act No. 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
