Sumbong ng mga pang-aabuso sa Philippine High School for the Arts, kinondena
Kinondena ng Civil Society Network for Education Reforms (E-Net Philippines) ang mga nabubunyag na kaso ng iba’t ibang uri ng pang-aabuso at karahasan sa Philippine High School for the Arts sa Los Baños, Laguna.
Umaasa ang E-Net Phils. na magkakaroon ng mga konkretong aksyon ang mga kinauukulang ahensiya upang maprotektahan ang mga estudyante at matuldukan na ang karahasang-sekswal.
Unang hiniling ng 89 kasalukuyang mag-aaral at 79 alumni ng PHSA sa pamunuan ng paaralan na imbestigahan ang mga pang-aabuso at tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng mga estudyante sa pagbabalik ng face-to-face classes sa susunod na buwan.
“E-Net is seriously concerned on the impact of these sexual abuse experiences on our children’s well-being. They are at a heightened risk for adverse physical and mental health outcomes, including depression, anxiety, substance use, and suicide,” ayon sa pahayag ng koalisyon ng civil society groups.
Ipinaalala rin na may sapat ng proteksyon para sa mga estudyante sa Republic Act No. 11313 o ang Safe Spaces Act, gayundin ang Department Order No. 40 series of 2012 ng Department of Education (DepEd), na nagsisilbing gabay sa pagprotekta sa mga mag-aaral sa lahat ng uri ng pang-aabuso.
Ipinanawagan din ng E-Net Phils. ang agarang pagpapatupad ng Comprehensive Sexuality Education sa sistemang pang-edukasyon sa bansa.
