Pananagutan ng Facebook, YouTube at Tiktok sa ‘fake news’ inirekomenda

Inirekomenda ng isang komite sa Senado na papanagutin ang social media platforms sa pagkalat ng mga maling impormasyon o ‘fake news.’

Partikular na nabanggit sa rekomendasyon ng Senate Committee on Constitutional Amendments, na pinamumunuan ni Sen. Francis Pangilinan, ang Facebook, YouTube at Tiktok.

“To discourage inaction by the social media platforms, malice should be presumed on the part of the publisher (i.e. social media platform) if a libelous comment is made by a fake or fictitious person and such platform fails to take down the libelous content within a reasonable time,” ang rekomendasyon ng komite.

Ayon kay Pangilinan kailangan maging malinaw at malawak ang kanilang mga rekomendasyon para masakop ang ibat-ibang pamamaraan ng pagpapakalat ng mga maling impormasyon sa social media platforms.

Pinatitiyak din sa committee report na ang mga kawani ng gobyerno ay hindi nagiging instrument sa pagkalat ng fake news.

Kabilang din sa rekomendasyon ang pag-amyenda sa Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, maging ang paghahain muli ng SIM Card Registration Bill, bukod sa 22 pang ibang rekomendasyon.
