Pinadidistansiya ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) si Deparment of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Abdullah Mama-o sa pondo ng Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
Ginawa ng DBM ang paalala matapos pag-interesan ni Mama-o ang natutirang pondo ng POEA ngayon taon.
Sa ulat na ipinadala ni DBM officer-in-charge Tina Rose Marie Canda kay Mama-o, sinabi na walang kapangyarihan ang kalihim na gamitin ang pondo ng POEA dahil hindi pa ‘fully constituted’ ang DMW.
Nasa kapangyarihan pa rin ng POEA ang paggamit ng kanilang pondo.
“With respect to the authority to utilize the FY 2022 POEA budget, it is emphasized that the DMW shall be fully constituted if the conditions under Section 23 of RA No. 11641, as reiterated under Section 56 of its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) are complied with,” paliwanag ni Canda.
