Sen. Alan Cayetano sinabing may solusyon sa Ph-China territorial row

Face-to-face diplomacy, ayon kay Senator-elect Alan Peter Cayetano, ang unang hakbang para mapalamig ang umiinit na sitwasyon sa West Philippine Sea.

“The problem is solvable but we have to be committed to it,” sabi ni Cayetano.

Diin pa ng dating kalihim ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) may mapayapang pamamaraan sa pagresolba sa isyu.

“Im a believer sa diplomacy. Ako’s naniniwala hindi dahas, hindi war, at hindi rin po force ang magso-slove ng problema natin sa West Philippine Sea kundi diplomacy,” dagdag pa nito.

Aniya ang kailangan ay ang agad na one-on-one meeting nina President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr., at Chinese President Xi Jin Ping.

“It’s not a one-dimensional problem. But kung president to president ang mag-uusap especially during this time, I don’t think totally masosolve ang problema pero tingin ko made-defuse y’ung situation and magkakaroon tayo ng framework how to proceed from here,” ayon pa rin kay Cayetano.

Noong Hunyo 9, naghain ng diplomatic protest ang DFA dahil sa presensiya ng higit 100 Chinese vessels sa Julian Felipe Reef noong Abril 4.
