Gatchalian: Vape Bill kailangan para protektahan ang mga kabataang Filipino
Bukod sa makakatulong sa mga matagal ng naninigarilyo, maiiwas din ang mga kabataan sa paggamit ng Vaporized Nicotine Product (VNP).
Ito ang paniniwala ni House Deputy Speaker Wes Gatchalian sa pagsuporta niya sa Vape Bill.
“There’s no law yer that imposes stricter regulations on the importation, manufacturing, selling and advertising of vaporized nicotine and non-nicotine products. This is where the Vape Bill comes in,” sabi pa ng mambabatas.
Dagdag pa niya; “ It spells out the regulation and penalties, including imprisonment for violators, to ensure that only adult smokers can get their hands on these less harmful alternatives.”
Kapag naging ganap na batas, magkakaoron ng regulasyon sa smoke-free alternatives sa sigarilyo, tulad ng vapes at heated tobacco products (HTPs).
Sa 2015 Global Adult Tobacco Survey, higit 16 milyong Filipino ang naninigarilyo at 77 porsiyento ang nagbalak na itigil ang bisyo, ngunit apat na porsiyento lamang ang tuluyang nakatalikod sa paninigarilyo.
Pagtitiyak ni Gatchalian, siniguro nila sa pagbalangkas ng batas na mabibigyan ng oportunidad ang ‘adult smokers’ na gumamit ng mga alternatibo, kasabay nang pagtitiyak na mailalayo sa ‘nicotine products’ ang mga kabataan.
