Pinagtibay na sa Senado ang bicameral conference committee report sa magkakaibang probisyon ng Senate Bill No. 1055 at House Bill No. 10355 o ang Separate Facility for Heinous Crimes Inmates Act.
Isinulong ni Sen. Richard Gordon ang committee report sa plenaryo para maratipikahan.
Paliwanag ni Gordon, layon ng panukalang makapagpatayo ng isang pasilidad para sa persons deprived of liberty (PDL) na nasentensiyahan sa mga karumal-dumal na krimen.
Ito aniya ay itatayo sa isang lugar na ang kalihim ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang magdedetermina.
Dagdag pa ng senador, ang pasilidad ay malayo sa mga matataong komunidad at iba pang PDLs. Maaring aniya sa isang isla o malapit sa kampo ng militar.
“I am passionate about the creation of a separate heinous facility to solve not just congestion in jails but also to ensure the safety of the public and the convicts themselves,” sabi pa ni Gordon.
Umaasa din aniya siya na magpapatuloy ang reporma para sa mga positibong pagbabago sa sistemang pang-hustisya sa bansa.
