Pangunahing suspek sa Sipadan kidnapping, arestado
Naaresto ng pinagsanib na pwersa ng Philippine National Police (PNP) at ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang isa sa mga pangunahing suspek sa Sipadan hostage-taking at kidnapping noong taong 2000.
Ayon kay PNP Crime Investigation and Detection Group-NCR Director Sr. Supt Ronald Lee, naaresto sa Bayani Road, Taguig sa pamamagitan ng dalawang linggong surveillance si Sakur Mustakin alias Sakur at JR Mustakin.
Si Mustakin ay miembro ng Abu Sayyaf Urban Terrorist Group na nakabase sa Jolo, Sulu at naaresto noong May 10 sa bisa ng warrant of arrest.
May patong na P900,000 sa ulo ni Mustakin, na itinanggi ang mga paratang at umanoy nagtatrabaho bilang sikyu at residente ng Mandaluyong.
Taong 2000 ng dukutin ng grupo ng Abu Sayyaf Group sa dive resort sa Sipadan ang 21 na mga indibidwal kabilang ang 10 Malaysians, 9 na Europeans at 2 Pinoy resort owners.
