BRP Teresa Magbanua, ide-deploy para sa kauna-unahang misyon
Ide-deploy ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701) para sa kauna-unahang misyon nito 10 araw matapos ang pormal na commissioning.
Isasama ang naturang multi-role response vessel (MRRV) sa Regional Marine Pollution Exercise (MARPOLEX) 2022 sa pagitan ng PCG, Directorate of Sea Transportation (DGST) ng Republic of Indonesia, at Japan Coast Guard (JCG) sa karagatabg sakop ng Makassar, Indonesia simula May 22 hanggang 29, 2022.
Maliban sa BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701), isasama rin sa naturang aktibidad ang BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301), BRP Malapascua (MRRV-4403) at BRP Cape Engaño (MRRV-4411) para ma-assess ang oil spill response capabilities ng tatlong bansa.
Ayon kay PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio Abu, susuriin at ie-evaluate ang Sulawesi Sea Oil Spill Response Network Plan at kasalukuyang hakbang ng Oil Spill Recovery and Response Capability ng mga barko ng Indonesia at Philippines. Kasama naman ang JCG upang maging gabay.
“They will also enhance cooperation and capability in firefighting, rescue, and oil spill recovery operations through planning, command and control, and the conduct of integrated operations,” ani Abu.
Dagdag nito, “Oil spill companies of the concerned countries will also be encouraged to combat, control, and recover oil spillage to accomplish the objectives of the Memorandum of Understanding on ASEAN Cooperation Mechanism for Joint Oil Spill Preparedness and Response.”
Isinasagawa ng PCG at DGST ang MARPOLEX kada dalawang taon.
Matatandaang pinangunahan ng Pilipinas ang naturang maritime exercise sa Davao City noong 2019.
