14 kaso ng Omicron subvariant na BA.2.12.1 na-detect sa NCR, Palawan

Nakapagtala ng 14 kaso ng Omicron subvariant na BA.2.12.1 ng COVID-19 sa National Capital Region at Palawan, ayon sa Department of Health (DOH).

Sa press briefing, sinabi ni Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire na dalawang kaso ang napaulat sa NCR, habang 12 naman sa Puerto Princesa City.

Sa impormasyon sa NCR, nakatanggap na aniya ang dalawang indibiduwal ng booster shot laban sa nakahahawang sakit kung kaya’t mild symptoms lamang ang naranasan nito.

Nakumpleto na aniya ng dalawang indibiduwal ang home isolation simula Abril 21 hanggang 28, at itinuturing na bilang asymptomatic at recovered.

Ani Vergeire, asymptomatic din ang 39 close contacts ng dalawang indibiduwal.

“Patuloy na inaalam ang kanilang vaccination status at kung sila ay na-test na at nakatapos na ng quarantine period,” saad nito.

Matatandaang naitala ang unang kaso ng Omircron BA.2.12 sa isang Finnish national sa Baguio City.

Ipinaliwanag naman ni Vergeire ang pinagkaiba ng BA.2.12 at BA.2.12.1.

“In totality, itong dalawang ito pareho silang more transmissible than the original Omicron variant at saka pareho silang may possibility ng immune escape based from the experts or the studies that are coming out,” paliwanag nito.

Kapwa aniyang naitala ang dalawang subvariants sa Amerika, United Kingdom, at Canada.
