Inaalala ng bansa ang ikaapat na taon na pagpanaw ni dating Senate President Edgardo Angara sa araw ng Biyernes, Mayo 13.
Pumasok sa pulitika si Angara matapos mahalal sa Quezon Province bilang pinakabatang delegado sa 1971 Constitutional Convention at sa sumunod na taon ay itinatag niya kasama ang ilang law classmates ang ACCRA Law Offices.
Nagsilbi siyang pangulo ng Phillipine Bar Association (1975 – 1976) at Integrated Bar of the Philippines (1979 – 1981) at mula 1981 hanggang 1987 ay nagsilbi siyang presidente ng UP.
Taon 1987 nang unang mahalal bilang senador si Angara at nahalal siya ng tatlo pang termino.
Ilan lamang sa mga mahahalagang batas na isinulong nito ay ang Free High School Act, ang mga batas na nagtatag sa Commission on Higher Education, sa Technical Education and Skill Development Authority o TESDA, sa PhilHealth, sa Senior Citizens Act, Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act, Renewable Energy Act, ang Procurement Reform Act at ang pinakamalaking scholarship program ng gobyerno, ang Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education o GASTPE.
Bago ang kanyang pagpanaw noong 2018, nakapagsilbi pa sa administrasyong Duterte si Angara bilang Special Envoy to the European Union simula 2017.
