Nilagdaan na ni Pangulong Noynoy Aquino ngayong araw, Mayo 23, 2016, ang Republic Act 10844 o ang batas na lumilikha ng Department of Information and Communications Technology o DICT.
Sa ilalim ng bagong batas, ang DICT ay pangungunahan ng isang Kalihim, tatlong undersecretaries, apat na assistant secretaries.
Nakapaloob din dito ang pagbuwag at paglilipat sa dict ng Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO); National Computer Center (NCC); National Computer Institute (NCI); Telecommunications Office (TELOF); National Telecommunications Training Institute (NTTI) at lahat ng operating units ng the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) na may kinalaman sa komunikasyon.
Dahil dito, ang dating DOTC at papangalanan na lamang na Department of Transportation.
Nakasaad din sa batas ang anim na buwang transition period mula sa full implementation ng paglilipat ng mga tungkulin, assets at personnel.
Pansamantala ang mga apektadong kawani ay mananatili sa kani-kanilang posisyon hanggang sa may italaga nang mga opisyal ng DICT.
