Itinalaga ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte si Police Lt. General Vicente Danao, Jr. bilang officer-in-charge ng Philippine National Police (PNP).
Pansamantalang papalit si Danao sa puwesto ni PNP chief Dionardo Carlos na magreretiro sa Mayo 8 dahil sa pagsapit sa mandatory retirement age na 56.
Ayon kay acting Presidential spokesman Martin Andanar, magiging epektibo ang pagiging OIC ni Danao sa Mayo 8.
Ayon kay Andanar, kumpiyansa ang Palasyo na magagampanan ni Danao ang bagong tungkulin.
“We are confident that General Danao will continue efforts to transform the PNP into a more dynamic and more professional organization performing its mandate of serving and protecting our people,” pahayag ni Andanar.
Dating hepe ng Davao City si Danao.
Nagtapos si Danao sa Philippine Military Academy Sambisig Class of 1991.
