Work from home arrangement sa SEZ’s businesses sablay sa batas – DOF
Kontra na ang Department of Finance (DOF) sa hirit na maipagpatuloy ang pagpapatupad ng work-from-home (WFH) arrangements sa mga negosyo na nasa special economic zones.
Paliwanag ni Finance Asec. Juvy Danofrata, pumayag ang Fiscal Incentives Review Board (FIRB) sa work-from-home set-up sa registered business enterprises (RBEs) bilang pansamantalang solusyon sa hindi pagpasok ng mga empleado dahil sa lockdowns bunga ng pandemya.
“The governments has exercised significant caution in balancing the economy’s needs and health requirements to address concerns the pandemic caused,” sabi pa ni Danofrata.
Aniya sa ngayon sa kanilang palagay, kailangan nang mabago ang nga polisiya para sa ganap na pagbubukas na ng mga negosyo.
Inihayag ito ni Danofrata dahil sa mga apila at panawagan ng ilang sektor na maipagpatuloy ang WFH para sa Information Techmology – Business Process Management sector nang hindi nawawala ang kanilang ‘tax benefits,’ sa mga negosyo na nasa special economic zones.
Ngunit ipinunto ng opisyal na base sa Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises (CREATE) Act, maibibigay lamang ang ‘tax perks’ kung ang negosyo ay nasa loob ng ecozone o freeports.
“Hence, under the law, allowing companies to have their activities be conducted from their homes or anywhere outside the zone territory while enjoying their tax incentives is an utter disregard and violation of the aforementioned provision of law,” dagdag pa ng opisyal.
Paglilinaw pa nito, hindi naman pinagbabawalan ang mga negosyo na ituloy ang kanilang WFH set-up, ngunit babawiin lamang sa kanila ang ibinibigay na tax incentives.
