Bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Earth Day, inilunsad ni Senator Cynthia Villar ang ‘LPPWP@15 Mobile Photography Contest.’
Tampok sa contest ang Las Piñas – Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) at ito ay may temang ‘Invest of Planet Earth.’
Sa paglulunsad ng contest, ibinahagi ni Villar ang kagandahan at biodiversity ng LPPWP, na tinawag na Las Piñas – Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area sa ‘List of Ramsar Wetland of International Importance.’
“It was proclaimed by the Philippine government a critical habitat on Earth Day 15 years ago through Presidential Proclamation No. 1412,” ang pagbabahagi ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Natural Resources.
Nang maipasa ang Expanded National Integrated Protected Area System noong 2018, idineklara itong legislated National Protected Area at simula noon ay marami ng hamon ang kinaharap nito, kabilang na ang banta ng reklamasyon.
“But our resolve and commitment to keep the Ramsar Wetland of International Importance in our country thriving and safe from damages and threats, is still strong,” pagdidiin ni Villar.
Ang LPPWP ay isang 175-hectare nature reserve sa timog ng Manila Bay at nagsisilbing santuwaryo ng 82 wild bird species mula sa China, Japan at Siberia, kasama na ang tatlong endangered o vulnerable bird species, ang Black Winged Stilt, Chinese Egrets at Philippine Duck.
