Gordon, binanatan sa paggamit sa mga ipinakulong na Pharmally Executives sa kanyang political ads
Kinastigo ni Atty. Ferdinand Topacio si Sen. Richard “Dick” Gordon sa patuloy na panggagamit nito sa isyu ng Pharmally controversy para sa kanyang kandidatura.
Ayon kay Topacio, ipinakulong lamang sa kasong contempt sa gitna ng Senate hearing ang kanyang mga kliyente na sina Pharmally Director Linconn Ong at Pharmally Secretary Mohit Dargani subalit ipinalalabas na ni Gordon sa kanyang political advertisements para sa May 2022 election na ang dalawa ay ang mukha ng graft and corruption na nilalabanan ng senador.
“I call out in the strongest terms the latest advertisement of Sen Gordon which used images of my clients. Under the Constitution, Ong and Dargani enjoys the presumption of innocence and the right to due process both of which have been denied them by Gordon,” nakasaad sa Tweet ni Topacio.
Sinabi ni Topacio na noon pa man ay malinaw na sa kanila ang panggagamit ni Gordon sa isyu para sa kanyang reelection bid kaya sa loob ng anim na buwan ay hindi pa rin napapalaya sina Ong at Dargani kahit tapos na ang Senate investigation sa Pharmally at naka-recess na ang Senado.
“My clients have been made to look guilty without the benefit of even a court case, much less a trial. Gordon, in seeking to promote himself at the expense of my clients, has exhibited conduct that is very unseemly of a lawyer and a Senator. If only for this, he should be repudiated by the electorate”giit ni Topacio.
Binanggit din ni Topacio ang responsibilidad ni Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III na huwag pabayaang magamit ang Senado para sa pansariling interes ni Gordon.
“Mr Sotto has the responsibility to see to it that the Senate and its members adhere to certain ethical standards and not use that august chamber for their own nefarious agenda”paliwanag pa ni Topacio.
Umaapela din ito sa iba’t ibang media platforms na tanggihan ang political ads ni Gordon na hindi lamang offensive kundi malinaw na lumalabag sa Konstitusyon.
“I call on every voter to Flush Gordon out of the Senate”dagdag pa nito.
Sinuportahan ni Atty. Trixie Angeles ang posisyon ni Gordon, sa isang tweet sinabi nito na naghahangad pa ng reelection si Gordon gayong ito ang unang lumalabag sa karapatan at presumption of innocence nang ipakulong nito sina Dargani at Ong.
Una nang sinabi ni Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, miyembro ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee na dapat nang palayain ang dalawa dahil tapos na ang imbestigasyon ng Senado sa Pharmally issue at mayroon nang final report dito ang komite gayunpaman kinontra ito ni Gordon sa pagsasabing preliminary report pa lamang ang ipinalalabas ng komite subalit iginiit ni Topacio na walang preliminary report sa Senate rules.
