Food products na may import clearance lamang ang papayagang makalabas ng pantalan – BOC

Iginiit ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) na tanging meat at food products na may import clearances mula sa  Department of Agriculture (DA) at Department of Health (DOH) ang papayagang mailabas sa mga pantalan.

Bilang bahagi ng clearance procedures, sinabi ng ahensya na kailangang magpakita ng importers ng mga permit bago ang pag-release ng kargamento.

Nakasaad sa Food Safety Act of 2013 na, “Imported foods shall undergo cargo inspection and clearance procedures by the DA and the DOH at the first port of entry to determine compliance with national regulations.”

Pagdidiin ng ahensya, mahigpit na ipinatutupad ang nasabing panuntunan sa lahat ng BOC port sa bansa.

Sa unang bordee inspection, susuriin ang 10 porsyento ng container.

Gagawin naman ang 100 porsyentong physical examination sa second border inspection ng Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), at Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) sa mga accredited na warehouse.

Masusuri ng DA at DOH kung ang meat o food importation ay kontaminado ng sakit tulad ng avian influenza (H5N1) o bird flu virus.

Nananatiling nakaalerto ang BOC laban sa mga meat at food product na maaring magdulot ng panganib sa kalusugan ng publiko.
