Inaprubahan ni Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte ang ordinansa na maglalagay ng environmental criteria para sa pagbili ng goods, services at infrastructure.
Ayon kay Belmonte, sina Councilors Diorella Maria Sotto-Antonio, Candy Medina at Dorothy Delarmente ang nagsulong ng “Quezon City Green Public Procurement Ordinance of 2021.”
“This Ordinance will help the city government implement the policies it crafted and fulfill the agreements and commitments it entered into with various organizations when it comes to environmental protection and sustainable development,” pahayag ni Belmonte.
Nabatid na ang Quezon City government ay ang nag-iisang Philippine city member ng C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group na nag-aadbokasiya ng climate action at sustainability.
Nakasaad sa ordinansa na inaatasan ang lahat ng tanggapan at proyekto sa Quezon City government na isama ang kahit na isang environmental criteria bilang bahagi ng terms of reference, requirements, o specifications sa pagbili ng goods, services, at infrastructure.
Inaatasan din ng ordinansa ang pagbuo ng Green Public Procurement Team na mangangasiwa sa implementasyon ng programa.
Ang Environmental Policy Management Council ang mangangasiwa sa supervision ng programa.
