Walden Bello, idineklarang persona non grata sa Davao City
Idineklara si Vice Presidential candidate Walden Bello bilang persona non grata sa Davao City dahil sa mga binitawang alegasyon ng umano’y korupsyon sa lungsod, lalo na sa mga proyekto nito.
Inihayag ni Bello ang umano’y nangyayaring korupsyon sa mga proyekto sa Davao City sa ginanap na vice presidential debate, na pinangunahan ng Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Ayon sa Davao City Council, madudungisan ang reputasyon ng lungsod, bilang isa sa trop tourism and investment haven sa bansa, dahil sa mga walang basehang alegasyon ni Bello.
“The City Council denounces the unbecoming character of Walden Bello particularly his act of employing malicious tirades. Davao City’s exemplary reputation is the hard work not only of the local government but every honest, disciplined, responsible Dabawenyo,” saad sa resolusyon.
Kasabay ng pagkondena, sinabi nito na hindi welcome si Bello teritoryo ng Davao City.
Dagdag nito, “Bello’s persistent attacks will debilitate Davao City’s economic recovery efforts, especially in promoting the city’s tourism and investment opportunities to the local and international scene, and ultimately affect Davao City’s reputable governance to the public in general.”
Siniraan anila ng malisyosong pahayag ni Bello ang mga hakbang at pagsisipag ng mga empleyado ng lokal na pamahalaan upang maabot ang mga tagumpay at pagkilala.
Binanggit din sa resolusyon na sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Vice Presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, nakatanggap ang lokal na pamahalaan ng 118 awards at citations mula 2016 hanggang 2021.
Kinilala rin ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang Davao City sa iginawad na “Seal of Local Governance” at “Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping over the years.”
Salungat sa naging patutsada ni Bello, binigyang-diin din ng mga konsehal na mas ligtas at mas umunlad ang Davao City dahil sa mga nangungunang infrastructure, economic at social program.
