P9 milyong halaga ng mga pekeng sigarilyo, nasamsam sa Valenzuela City
Nasabat sa sanib-pwersang operasyon ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) ang P9 milyong halaga ng imported fake cigarettes mula sa isang warehouse sa Valenzuela City.
Armado ang mga awtoridad ng Letter of Authority (LOA) at Mission Order (MO), na pirmado ni Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero, nang mag-inspeksyon sa warehouse.
Tumambad sa mga awtoridad ang master cases ng imported fake cigarettes na may tatak na Marlboro reds, Mighty, Modern Cigarettes, Carnival, Red Golden Dragon (RGD) Classic, at iba pa.
Magkakaparehas ang nakalagay na Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) stamps at serial numbers sa mga pakete ng sigarilyo.
Ayon kay Manila International Container Port-Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (MICP-CIIS) Director Jeoffrey Tacio, mabilis silang umaksyon matapos matanggap ang intelligence reports ukol sa warehouse.
“It is not even enough that we seize a whole warehouse, where these cigarettes without permits and legitimate stamps were found. We need to find the root of these operations,” pahayag ni Tacio.
Nadiskubre rin sa warehouse ang isang sasakyan sa storage area.
Nakita sa passenger seat at rear seats nito ang ilan pang kaha ng sigarilyo.
Inalis ng mga smuggler ang rear seats at ginamit ang espasyo upang ilagay at maibiyahe ang mga ilegal at pekeng sigarilyo.
Isasailalim ang mga kontrabando sa seizure at forfeiture proceedings dahil sa paglabag sa Section 118 patungkol sa Section 1113 ng Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
