Sa pagsisimula ng summer season, inilunsad ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang mas mahigpit na security measure sa pamamagitan ng Ligtas Sumvac (Summer Vacation) 2022 campaign.
Inilabas ng PNP National Headquarters ang mga itinakdang operational guidelines upang mas matiyak ang pagsunod sa minimum public health standards at mapanatili ang kaayusan at kapayapaan, lalo na sa mga kilalang tourist destination.
Matatapat ang Semana Santa sa buwan ng Abril, kung saan inaasahan ang pagdagsa ng mga lokal at dayuhang turista sa iba’t ibang tourist spots sa bansa.
Sinabi ng pambansang pulisya na inaasahan na nila ma mas maraming indibiduwal ang magtutungo sa tourism sites kasabay ng mas maluwag na restrictions sa bansa.
“We are alerting all police units and stations to strictly adhere to our guidelines so we can avoid the resurgence of Covid cases and deter crimes from happening,” pahayag ni PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos.
Sa ilalim ng mga panuntunan, inatasan ang mga police unit at station na simulan ang pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga community-based volunteer at force multipliers.
Kailangan ding makipagtulungan ng pulisya sa Department of Tourism (DOT) sa paggawa at pagbigay ng safety tips sa mga turista.
Magsasagawa rin ng mga regular na inspeksyon at mobile patrols sa mga tourist site, kasama ang implementasyon ng maximum police visibility sa mga lugar na madalas puntahan ng mga tao, tulad ng terminals.
Bubuhayin din ng bawat police station ang kanilang tourist police upang matutukan at agad matuguan ang mga matatanggap na reklamo.
“We remind our establishments and other tourist-related businesses to continue practicing the health protocol and to have their system of guest monitoring. If prohibitions like the curfew and liquor ban are still in effect in areas where they belong, then they are obliged to adhere,” pagdidiin ni Carlos.
