Nanlumo si reelectionist Senator Leila de Lima nang mabasa ang autopsy reports sa tinaguriang ‘Bataan 5.’
Sinabi ni de Lima hindi niya lubos-maisip kung anong klaseng kamatayan ang dinanas nina Lumad teachers Chad Booc, Jurain Ngujo II, ang community health officer na si Elegyn Balonga at ang kanilang driver na sina Tirso Añar at Robert Aragon.
“It painted a harrowing picture of what could have really happened in the last moments of their young lives. Brutal! I can’t imagine how their loved ones must have felt,” aniya.
Makatuwiran lang aniya na magkaroon ng independent investigation sa pagkamatay ng lima para malaman ang puno’t dulo ng kanilang malagim na kamatayan.
“Impunity murdered these young people who could have lived comfortable lives given their credentials but chose to serve the poor and marginalized,” pagdidiin ni de Lima.
