CHR, mag-iimbestiga sa pamamaril sa isang Bayan Muna coordinator sa General Santos City
Mariing kinondena ng Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ang pamamaril sa isang Bayan Muna coordinator sa General Santos City, Linggo ng madaling-araw (March 13).
Base sa ulat, nagtamo ng mga sugat ang biktima matapos barilin ng hindi pa nakikilalang salarin makaraang pasukin ang bahay nito sa bahagi ng Barangay Buayan.
Ayon kay Atty. Jacqueline Ann de Guia, tagapagsalita ng CHR, nakakabahala ang tangkang pagpatay sa transport leader at Bayan Muna General Santos coordinator na si Larry Villegas.
Nakatanggap din umano si Villegas ng mga death threat at naghahanda para sumuporta sa isang political campaiign bago ang insidente.
Kahit nakaligtas sa insidente, umapela ang CHR sa mga awtoridad na magkasa ng operasyon upang mahuli ang responsable sa krimen.
“Whatever the motive may be, an assault to human life should immediately warrant action from the government to demonstrate that lawlessness and vigilante-style violence have no place in a democratic society,” pahayag nito.
Dagdag ni de Guia, “At the same time, with national and local elections fast approaching, we urge local governments and law enforcers to remain alert against election-related violence meant to disrupt the lawful exercise of political rights and threaten other rights.”
Magsasagawa ng hiwalay na imbestigasyon ang CHR Region 12 at makikipag-ugnayan sa mga awtoridad upang mabigyang liwanag ang insidente.
