Sen. Joel Villanueva sinegundahan hirit ng BPO workers na ituloy ang work from home arrangement

Hiniling ni Senator Joel Villanueva sa gobyerno na bawiin muna ang ibinigay na ultimatum sa Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs) na tuldukan na ang work from home arrangments sa kanilang mga empleado.

Ayon kay Villanueva dapat ikunsidera ang pagtaas ng halaga ng mga produktong-petrolyo bilang dahilan at palawigin pa ang itinakdang deadline sa BPOs na tapusin na ang kanilang work from home arrangements.

Itinakda ng Fiscal Incentives Review Board (FIRB) ang deadline sa mga BPOs sa free ports at economic zones para magpatuloy ang kanilang ‘tax perks at fiscal incentives.’

“I believed that the rise in gas prices is exacerbated by the conflict in Ukraine, which makes the appeal to extend the deadline a very reasonable one,” sabi pa ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Labor.

Binanggit nito, nagpapasok ng P1.5 trilyon ang BPOs sa kaban ng bansa at hindi naman humihingi ng subsidiya kayat makatuwiran lamang na pagbigyan ang kanilang kahilingan.

Diin niya, walang gagastusin ang gobyerno kung papayagan ang BPO workers na patuloy na makapag-trabaho sa kanilang bahay.
