De Lima nagpasalamat sa TRO ng Supreme Court sa Oplan Baklas ng Comelec
Pinuri ni reelectionist Senator Leila de Lima ang pagpapalabas ng Korte Suprema ng temporary restraining order (TRO) sa pagpapatupad ng Commission on Elections ng Oplan Baklas.
Sinabi nito na ang hakbang ay pagbibigay proteksyon sa karapatan ng mga mamamayan na ipahayag ang mga napupusuan nilang kandidato.
Pinasalamatan din ni de Lima ang mga abogado na kinuwestiyon sa Korte Suprema ang Oplan Baklas para matiyak na hindi nasasaklawan ang tinatawag na ‘freedom of expression.’
Sa TRO, inatasan din ng Kataaastaasang Hukuman ang Comelec at ang tagapagsalita nitong si James Jimenez na magsumite ng kanilang komento sa petisyon.
Ipinalabas ang TRO matapos maghain ng petisyon ang mga tagasuporta ni presidential aspirant Leni Robredo noong Marso 1 na kumuwestiyon sa kapangyarihan ng Comelec na baklasin ang campaign materials na ikinabit ng mga pribadong indibiduwal sa kanilang bakuran.
Binanggit ni de Lima ang kaso ng Diocese of Bacolod versus Comelec.
“In the said case, the SC held that COMELEC does not have the authority to regulate the enjoyment of the preferred right of freedom of expression exercised by a non-candidate during the election season,” aniya.
