De Lima tinuligsa ang OSG sa pambu-‘bully’ sa Comelec
Walang basehan, ayon kay reelectionist Senator Leila de Lima, ang pag-atake ni Solicitor General Jose Calida sa Commission on Elections (COMELEC) dahil sa pakikipag-kasundo sa Rappler para sa pagbibigay ng mga impormasyon na may kinalaman sa papalapit na eleksyon.
“Of course, Calida is the last person we expect to be objective when it comes to Rappler. The Duterte Administration is well-known for its attempts to shut down Rappler for being critical of the government and its policies, especially its reporting on Duterte’s role in the Davao Death Squad,” sabi pa ni de Lima.
Aniya itinutuloy pa rin ng Office of the Solicitor General ang panggigipit sa Rappler sa kabila nang nalalapit na pagtatapos na ng administrasyong-Duterte.
Nakipagkasundo ang COMELEC sa Rappler para sa “voter engagement and fighting disinformation’ kaugnay sa papalapit na national at local elections.
Sa pagkontra ni Calida sa kasunduan, sinabi nito na mabibigyan laya ang Rappler sa mga confidential data ng mga rehistradong botante.
Diin naman ni de Lima wala siyang nakikitang problema sa kasunduan dahil aniya hindi naman ito eksklusibo sa Rappler lamang.
Paliwanag pa niya, ang Comelec ay isang ‘independent constitutional commission’ at hindi maaring diktahan kahit ng Malakanyang.
