Nilagdaan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang Executive Order 164 para magkaroon ng national position sa nuclear energy program.
Nakasaad sa EO na sa ilalim ng nuclear energy program ay magkakaroon ng economic, political, social, at environmental objectives.
Para makamit ang growth targets, kinakailangan na mayroong reliable, secure, sustainable, quality at abot-kayang electricity supply.
“Toward this end, and taking into consideration the experience of developed and growing economies, nuclear power shall be tapped as a viable alternative baseload power source along with alternative energy resources, to address the projected decline of coal-fired power plants which come under increasing environmental opposition,” saad ng EO.
Target ng estado na maging viable component ang nuclear power para maging tugma ang tumataas na demand at suplay ng enerhiya.
“The State envisions nuclear power as a viable component to bridge the gap between rising energy demands and supply, taking into account learnings from the past, national, social and economic development pathways, as well as international legal and regulatory frameworks, and best practices,” saad ng EO.
Nilagdaan ng Pangulo ang EO noong Pebrero 28.
