Vice Admiral Artemio Abu, nanumpa na bilang PCG Commandant

Nanumpa na si Coast Guard Vice Admiral Artemio Abu bilang ika-29 PCG Commandant.

Pinangunahan ni Transportation Secretary Art Tugade ang oath-taking ceremony ni Abu sa MRRV-9701 sa Port Area, Manila araw ng Martes, March 1.

Kasama rin sa seremonya si National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, at ang asawa ng bagong PCG Commandant na si Carlota Vergara Abu, at apat na anak: Kavin Paul, Kariza Pamela, Kurt Patrick, at Karina Paula.

Miyembro si Abu ng Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1992.

Bago ang naturang designation, nagsilbi si Abu bilang Commander ng Maritime Safety Services Command (MSSC) at Task Force Commander ng PCG Task Force Kaligtasan sa Karagatan.

Bilang isang Coast Guard officer, naitalaga rin si Abu bilang Commander ng PCG District Southern Visayas, PCG District Southern Tagalog, at ng Coast Guard Education, Training, and Doctrine Command (CGETDC).

Naging Commanding Officer din si Abu ng iba’t ibang PCG ships, kung saan nakakuha siya ng “Command at Sea” badge.

Sa pagputok ng Bulkang Taal noong 2022, naitalaga rin si Abu bilang Commander ng PCG Task Force Taal.
