P3.5-M halaga ng exotic aquatic wildlife, nasabat ng BOC

Nasamsam ng Bureau of Customs Port of NAIA, sa pamamagitan ng Ports Environmental Protection and Compliance Division Enforcement and Security Service (EPCD-ESS), ang hindi dekleradong exotic aquatic wildlife sa Pasay City.

Tinatayang aabot sa P3.5 milyon ang halaga ng exotic aquatic wildlife.

Bahagi ang mga hayop ng importasyon ng isang Aquaxotic Enterprises na nagmula sa Thailand.

Kabilang sa mga nasabat ang 180 albino soft shelled turtles at 120 pacman frogs at 38,188 na iba’t ibang exotic fishes.

Nadiskubre rin ang iba’t ibang uri ng aquatic plants tulad ng 718 anubias plants at 260 piraso ng microsorium plants.

Hindi deklarado ang nasabing kargamento sa ilalim ng Aquaxotic’s permit upang ma-import.

Dahil dito, lumabag ang naturang kargamento sa Section 1400 ng Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tarrif Act (CMTA).

Siniguro naman ng BOC-NAIA na patuloy nilang hihigpitan ang border security efforts laban sa illegal wildlife trafficking, alinsunod sa kampanya ni BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero kontra smuggling.
