582 infrastructure projects sa Western Visayas, nakumpleto sa taong 2021
Umabot sa 582 ang bilang ng infrastructure projects na nakumpleto ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) sa Western Visayas sa taong 2021.
Ayon kay DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado, isa itong ‘remarkable achievement’ sa kabila ng mga pagsubok na dulot ng pandemya at pananalasa ng bagyong Odette noong nakaraang taon.
Batay sa mga ulat mula kay DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Tiburcio DL. Canlas, sinabi ng kalihim na nakatanggap ang rehiyon ng pondong P38.83 bilyon para sa 1,523 projects.
Kabilang sa mga proyekto ang 8.73-kilometer ng 21.64-kilometer Boracay Circumferential Road opened noong December 2021.
Natapos na rin ang 770-lineal meter Kalibo Bridge III sa Aklan, na ikinukunsidera bilang pinakamahabang concrete bridge sa Western Visayas.
Maliban sa pagpapatibay ng road network, binigyang prayoridad din ng DPWH ang pagpapalawak nito para sa kakayahan ng naturang rehiyon na maiwasan ang pag-apaw ng humigit-kumulang 270 ilog sa naturang rehiyon.
“With 918 infrastructure projects underway and 23 more in the pipeline, we hope to catalyze further economic development in Western Visayas and contribute to its progress as one of the fastest growing regions of the Philippines,” pahayag ni Mercado.
Aabot sa walong milyong Filipino sa naturang rehiyon ang nagbebenepisyo sa mga natapos na proyekto.
