396 na mapanganib na black ants, nasamsam ng BOC

Nasamsam ng Bureau of Customs – Port of NAIA ang mga kargamento na naglalaman ng mapanganib na black ants na selyado ng 396 specimen tubes.

Tulad sa ibang bansa, mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ang pag-import at pag-export ng non-native black ants dahil sa maaring idulot nitong panganib sa kalusugan ng publiko at kapaligiran.

Ayon sa ahensya, unang idineklara ang tatlong export parcels bilang “Lego Kid’s Toy.”

Ipinadala ito ng isang “Shin Yap.”

Selyado ng Lego box ang 21 small cups at 21 specimen tubes na naglalaman ng black ants.

Samantala, nakuha naman ang 375 specimen tubes na naglalaman ng black ants sa dalawang imported shipments mula sa Poland.

Agad dinala sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) ang mga kargamento para sa seizure at forfeiture proceedings dahil sa paglabag sa Section 11 at 27 ng Republic Act 9147 o Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act, at Section 117 na may kinalaman sa Section 1113 (f) ng Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
