P2-M halaga ng ecstacy tablets, ketamine nasamsam ng BOC, PDEA
Nasabat ng Bureau of Customs – Port of NAIA (BOC NAIA), katuwang ang Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA IADITG), ang 1,115 ecstasy tablets, at 26.4 gramo ng Ketamine sa limang parcels sa Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) sa Pasay City.
Ipinadala ang parcels bilang ‘mail parcels’ mula sa The Netherlands at Germany. Wala itong shipper details at naka-consign sa ilang indibiduwal sa Caloocan, Mandaluyong, Bulacan, at Davao.
Nang isailalim sa physical examination, tumambad sa Customs examiner ang P2,027,800 halaga ng tablets na may iba’t ibang kulay.
Nakumpirma sa qualitative chemical laboratory test ng PDEA na ecstasy tablets at ketamine ang nadiskubreng ilegal na droga.
Nai-turnover na ang naturang party drugs at ketamine sa PDEA para sa case build up at maghahanda ng criminal charges laban sa mga indibiduwal na nasa likod ng ilegal na importasyon dahil sa paglabag sa Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165) at Section 1401 (Unlawful Importation) ng Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
Samantala, lumabas sa datos na tumaas ang smuggling attempts ng ecstasy in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) sa taong 2021 kumpara noong 2020.
Ayon kay NAIA IADITG Deputy Commander Gerald Javier, “the increasing number of ecstasy seizures is an indicator that there is a demand of such product in our country…but we, the people in the port of entry are really on the target to intercept these illegal drugs.”
Kasunod nito, nangako si District Collector Carmelita Talusan na ipagpapatuloy nila ang mahigpit na pagbabantay sa borders ng bansa laban sa smuggling.
