Pagpapapalawak ng Lawton Avenue sa Taguig City, nakatakdang matapos sa second quarter ng 2022

Minamadali na ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang pagpapalawak ng Fort Bonifacio-Nichols Field Road o Lawton Avenue sa Taguig City upang maabot ang target completion sa second quarter ng 2022.

Nag-inspeksyon si DPWH DPWH Secretary Roger Mercado sa naturang proyekto noong Huwebes, January 20, kasama ang iba pang opisyal.

“As the government increases mobility in Metro Manila amid the pandemic, this project is vital in addressing traffic woes experienced by motorists,” saad ng kalihim.

Mayroong tatlong phase ang road widening, kasama ang 1.34-meter Phase 1 na magmumula sa 5th Avenue hanggang Bayani Road. Nakumpleto at nabuksan ito sa publiko noong November 17, 2020.

“We are keen in expediting the completion of the remaining two phases of the project with Phase 2 covering 1,100 lineal meters from Bayani Road to Philippine Navy and Phase 3 covering 240 lineal meters from Philippine Navy to Pasong Tamo Extension,” ani Mercado.

Oras na makumpleto, magkakaroon na ng anim na lane ang 3.1-kilometer Lawton Avenue. Sa tulong nito, mas marami nang sasakyan ang maa-accommodate sa nasabing kalsada at maiiwasan ang pagsisikip ng trapiko sa bahagi ng Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), South Superhighway at C-5 Road.

Makatutulong din ito sa 961.427-lineal meter Bonifacio Global City-Ortigas Center Link Road Project, na mayroong access sa Taguig, Pasig, Makati at Mandaluyong.

Ang pagpapalawak ng Lawton Avenue ay bahagi ng EDSA Decongestion Program, isa sa flagship projects ng administrasyong Duterte sa ilalim ng Build Build Build Program.
