Siyam na pulis na sangkot sa pagkamatay ni Calbayog City Mayor Aquino, sasampahan ng kaso

Pinasasampahan ng kaso ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang siyam na pulis na sangkot sa pagkamatay ni dating Calbayog City, Samar Mayor Ronaldo Aquino, at tatlo pang kasamahan noong March 2021.

Nasawi si Aquino, kasama ang security escort na si Rodeo Sario, driver na si Dennis Abayon, at isang sibilyan na si Clint Paul Yauder, habang sugatan ang aide na si Mansfield Labonite nang pagbabarilin sa bahagi ng Barangay Lonoy.

Apat na kabilang ng murder at isang bilang ng frustrated murder ang ihahaing kaso sa Regional Trial Court ng Calbayog City.

Hindi tumayo sa korte ang mga depensa na iniharap ng siyam na pulis laban sa mga ibinigay na pahayag ng saksi at ebidensiyang isinumite ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Sinabi ng DOJ na kabilang sa mga sasampahan ng kaso ay ang mga sumusunod:
– Police Lt. Col. Harry Villar Sucayre, Team Leader
– Police Maj. Shyrile Co Tan
– Police Capt. Dino Laurente Goles
– Police Lt. Julio Salcedo Armeza, Jr.
– Police SSG Neil Matarum Cebu
– Police SSG Edsel Tan Omega
– Patrolman Niño Cuadra Salem
– Police Cpl. Julius Udtujan Garcia
– Police Staff Seargeant Randy Caones Merelos
– Ilan pang hindi kilalang lalake na sangkot sa insidente

Samantala, ibinasura na ang counter-charges na murder, frustrated murder, and attempted murder laban kina Ronald Mark Aquino, anak ng dating alkalde, at Police Cpl. Ramil Rosales, at maging ang reklamo laban kay nakababatang Aquino dahil sa grave threats.

Na-dismiss din ang supplemental complaint ni Ronald Mark laban kina Raymund Uy at Stephen James Tan.
