DND, suportado ang mandatory military sa mga 18-anyos na Filipino
Suportado ng Department of National Defense (DND) ang panukala ni vice presidential aspirant at Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte na mandatory military service ng mga 18-anyos na Filipino.
Ayon kay Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, maraming benepisyo ang maidudulot nito sa mga kabataan.
Una, magkakaroon ng reservists ang militar na handa at naisanay upang depensahan ang bansa.
Sa pamamagitan din ng training at disiplina, mas magiging mabuting mamamayan ang mga ito at maitatanim sa kanila ang pagseserbisyo sa bansa.
Gayunman, inamin ni Lorenzana na may ilang mararanasang hadlang sa implementasyon nito.
Unang binanggit ng kalihim ang resources. Kakailanganin kasi aniya ng training camps sa buong bansa, manpower, at pondo para ma-accommodate ang milyun-milyong Filipino na aabot sa 18 taong gulang.
Hindi rin inaalis ni Lorenzana ang posibilidad na may ilang hindi tumutol na magserbisyo sa militar.
“Third, we are not on war footing and there will be little need of a general mobilization,” dagdag nito.
Bunsod nito, mas mabuting alternatibo aniya ang implementasyon ng mandatory ROTC sa mga pribado at pampublikong paaralan.
Sinisimulan na aniya ang implementasyon nito sa State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
“This program, which targets the K11-K12 levels, will produce a huge number of youths who will form part of our reservists,” ani Lorenzana.
Saad pa nito, “We fell that the products of ROTC program is more than sufficient to meet our requirements for warm bodies in case of conflict and in times of calamities and disasters.”
